"...EXACTLY follow the 3 steps;
1) reboot your mac.
(trust me, believe it or not, it helps!)
2) use your screensaver password
3) choose always save."
Worked like a charm!
I am having the same problem with trying to go into Turbo Tax 2021... and tried the login password, and the password for the Intuit Keychain entry - and they don't work, locks up Turbo Tax, and have to force quit it from Task Manager...
YES, YES, OHHHHH YES... this workaround worked for me... THANKS FOR your post!! Allowed me to access my previously locked by login keychain 2021 taxes in Turbo Tax 2021...
I read everything that people post because there may be multiple workaround options. I followed instructions: application > utilities > keychain access> search for 'intuit' and find the intuit password (NOT the intuit web form password) > access control > allow access all. I did that and in my case turbotax 2020 2021 were already listed there as accessible but not 2022. Caveat: I did restart my computer, updated my mac os in case there had been a fixed, reopened turbotax and it was fine. Sooo...it can be hard to tell at exactly which point I solved my problem. Carry on!
yes, that worked for me... had to go in and click on the entry in the keychain access app that was being asked in the dialogue box to enter the password... after granting access to everybody, it worked, was able to access my Turbo Tax 2021 files from Turbo Tax 2021... frustrating that this happened in the first place, not sure why this is the case... but this year's tax preparation has been one massive obstacle course experience... so freakN glad that I am almost finished with this year's taxes...
Same problem here. Unable to save my work on MacBook. All data entered is lost.
Here I how I solved the problem:
SUMMARY: Give your keychain access to TurboTax 2022. Here's how you do it. It's not that difficult, even if it you don't understand. Just follow the steps.
1. The Login password SHOULD BE the password you use to log on to your Mac. However, it did not work for me, even after multiple reboots. Since the password didn't work, here's what I did instead of entering the password.
2. The password dialog box has a "?" in the lower left corner for additional info. Click on the "?"
3. A long explanation will open and include a hyperlink to the Apple Keychain Access App. Click on it.
4. There is a search box in the upper right of the Keychain Access window. Search for "intuit" and you should see the looong application password(s) that are being requested. You can compare to confirm.
5. Click on the correct one and an "Intuit ID" dialog box should open up. There are two tabs. Click on the Access Control tab.
6. Click on the "+" at bottom left of the dialog box.
7. Search your Applications for TurboTax 2022 and add it to the list of "Always allow access by these applications"
8. Click "Save Changes"
9. Restart everything and the problem should be solved.
Thank you for sharing how this worked for you. @elee222 This can be helpful to the others in the community.
Just Click Always Allow and you will be good to go. I tested this for myself and it works
None of the posted solutions I saw here worked, so I am posting the one I discovered that did work for me. Please see Apple's instructions on updating your keychain password on Mac. https://support.apple.com/guide/keychain-access/if-you-need-to-update-your-keychain-password-kyca242... I went into Users & Groups and "reset" my computer login password (this is the one you use to login after restart, when the computer goes to sleep, or when the system wants to be sure when you're asking it to install software). I actually kept the password the same, but I went through the motions and restarted. The next time the message popped up from TurboTax, suddenly this very same computer login password was accepted and, to my relief, the message disappeared and was able to continue on with my tax preparation. I wish everyone luck.
Thank you for the update! We are glad you were able to continue with your tax preparation.
TurboTax keeps asking for keychain password. That requires to go through the following steps:
I also had the same experience. Kept getting asked for the keychain login password (which no doubt was entered correctly) but it was constantly rejected.
Rebooting & restarting TurboTax did not help. Could not change access from "ask each time" to "all access to all applications" either.
But resetting the login password (main login screen for MAC). Reset to the same as the original password and now it worked in the TurboTax box.
Must be operating system version dependent. I solved this after lots of time trying everything.
So anyone experiencing this should try each suggested option in this thread. If the first one doesn't work, try the next one until something works. There should be a better answer (than trial and error) from the TT support staff.
