lost data after saving an incomplete return

Using 2021 TT premier from a CD on Windows 10 laptop,  I am using the import feature to successfully download my 1099 data from my accounts.  I finished the 1099 income entries one day, then saved the return.  Came back to Continue  the deductions another day.   I found one 1099-R missing. So I reentered it.  Continued entering the deduction data and saved the return for that day.  Came Back to Continue another day and complete State return.   Then I found all the 1099-B data was missing from the federal  return that I had imported a few days ago.  The Schedule D was blank.  What is going wrong??

I can import that 1099-B  again and start saving screen shots before saving the return again.  What else can I do?

lost data after saving an incomplete return

UPDATE:  I discovered TT opened another file under a different user on my laptop.  I got ERR 70001 when closing and saving the file I was working in.  Then I looked at Task Manager I could see 2 instances active.  I have no idea how that happened.

How many  2021 TT J forms should be in my folder?  Right now with TT closed, I see 4 files.
