Good morning. Every year when I file with Turbo Tax, I am unable to efile and have to mail my taxes. Last year, I filed on 6/8/21 and mailed my fed and state taxes that day. The IRS never received them. I still have not re-filed. I would like to see if I can activate my ability to Efile so I can go ahead and efile and not have to risk the checks that I sent out getting lost in the mail again. If someone could please call me to discuss this, I would really appreciate it. My number is [phone number removed]. If not, A response would be appreciated.

Did you send tax due checks with them? Were they cashed? Did you get a letter from the IRS saying they didn't get your 2020 return? And you mailed Federal and state in separate envelopes to different places, right? The IRS has been sending out letters but they might be a mistake.
The IRS sent out a lot of letters. The last couple years were a mess and the IRS got way behind processing returns.

E-filing for 2020 has been permanently closed since October of 2021. So, no, you cannot e-file 2020. When you mailed your return did you use a mailing service to track it --like certified mail-- so you would know they received it? (ALWAYS do that when you mail a return). The only way to file a 2020 return is by mail.
So----you enclosed checks with those returns and the checks have not ever been cashed? Did you send federal and state to separate addresses in separate envelopes? Have you stopped payment on those checks with your bank?
If you have called the IRS and made sure they did not get your return then you can mail the return again. But call first.... And check your online IRS account to see what it shows.

Listen to each menu before making the selection.
First choose your language. Press 1 for English.
Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions." It should then transfer you to an agent.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
