I have been working on my tax return with Turbotax Deluxe Desktop version for two weeks and was almost done. The tax return was saved everytime and turbotax file was saved in the Documents/TurboTax folder. I saw it there with my own eyes.
Today when I clicked on Turbotax it said I need to update and when the update was finished I was taken a screen where there was no old return. It was asking me to start a new return. Then when I went to the Turbotax folder there was no return there either.
After desperately searching online forums someone suggested search your C drive using "*.tax*" and it will find the file wherever it is. Well ....to my luck nothing came up. There is no history of me every working on my tax return.
Turbotax deleted two weeks of my work and hours of my time with a single update. Just like that.
Wow....I just switched from H&R to Turbotax this year and you made me learn a lesson. Never again

If you're using TurboTax Desktop, your files are stored on your computer only, not online anywhere.
When you open TurboTax, try right-clicking and 'Run as Administrator'. One user found his tax file in C:\Users\Admin\Documents, another found them in One Drive, and another in Trash. Your file should be on your computer somewhere, though.
Check your TurboTax documents folder for a file with a tilde sign (a back up in case of computer crash).
