So I have 2 questions.
1.On my W2 local income tax (19) has a different amount on the top from the amount below it and I don't know what to do. Do I Add them together or just add another locality and keep them separate?
And question 2 is about locality name (20). Mine is blank but it won't let me continue without it.

Are you seeing multiple lines of 18 through 20 reporting multiple various local taxes? This is not unusual.
You likely will have to report each line separately but you will have to identify the tax being reported in box 20. To make sure, you may have to contact the employer who issued the W-2.
Perhaps, you are able to go to your last payroll stub from 2023 to identify the names of the local taxes listed in box 20. Or you may have to contact your employer to find out what local tax is being reported.
No not multiple lines. There's one single dash line like this ------- that goes through 15-20 making a top box and a bottom box to each number. Box 18 has a box beneath it that matches the same amount as the one above it, Box 19 has a box beneath it that has a different amount from the one above it, and the top and bottom of Box 20 are just blank.
I checked my paystubs and there were 2 deductions with the amounts for 19. One was FAYET and the other was LEXFAY. Idk what that means as far as entering in my info for 19 and 20
To clarify, which state do you live in?
Which state do you work in?
In which state is the employer located?
I live and work in Lexington,Kentucky and the store I work at is down the street from where I live. My employer's address on my W2 says Tennessee. I did not travel to work at another store in my area or another state.
The Commonwealth of Kentucky has many local tax authorities so it is possible that you are seeing more than one local tax authority listed on lines 18 through 20 of your W-2. Both lines should be designated as "Kentucky'.
If you are saying the one box 18 of your W-2 is larger than another box 18 of your W-2, that would be possible. Your box 1 income could be apportioned between the two box 18's but It is difficult to know for sure without seeing your paperwork.
Kentucky Department of Revenue requires a locality name in box 20. If you do not have a tax authority name from your final paystub of 2023, does 'Lexington' work?
