I literally filed mine and my wife’s taxes 1/25/2025, it was accepted 1/27/2025. I received a letter in the mail on march 10, stating that my tax refund is under review that I could not call or get any answers until the 60 day waiting period was over. It’s literally the same W2’s and credits we have been filing since 2016!!! The irs lady told me that you cannot get any answers before the 60 day period, and even after waiting that long it could take up to 180 days before I would see my return? I don’t understand why. Turbo tax is clearly no help at all after I’ve paid for to use their site to file them and paid extra for live tax help and it’s impossible to speak to anyone other than a freaking bot!! Has this happened to anyone else?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your tax return. No one at TT knows that your return is under review, and TurboTax cannot intervene with the IRS or speed them up for you. Only the IRS is in control. If the IRS wants additional information from you, the IRS will request it and you should provide it promptly. The "Live" help was there to help you prepare your tax return; the "Live" experts cannot do anything to get the IRS to process your return faster. Sorry.
of course, Turbotax can't help. it is merely software that can be used to prepare your return based on what you enter. It has no access to IRS records or does it have the authority to act on your behalf. yes, it's happened to others. many others. even worse sometimes taxpayers are told the IRS needs additional time. Don't know if the employee firings are in part to blame.
see if the iRS Tax advocate service can help

your other recourse would be to hire a tax pro or use Audit Defense and give them authority to act on your behalf. however, the cost might exceed the benefit and there is no guarantee they can do anything to speed up your refund.
since its just 9 more days at this point i would suggest being patient.
