Less Common Situations for a dependent is the question "Paid for more than half of their living expenses & other support" asking me if I as a parent paid more than half?

I'm not sure if the question is asking me as a parent if I paid more than half of my childs expenses & support or if the question is asking if my child paid more than half of his expenses & support.

It is an odd question that is asking if the CHILD paid over half his own support.  Say NO to that question or you will not be able to claim them as a dependent.

It applies to the child paying more than half of their own expenses.

This question appears in the child's section of My Info.

The option for the response is :

  • Paid for more than half of their living expenses and other support
  • (We know "the child" is a kid, but we have to ask.)
  • There is also a [?] on the right that gives further information.
