I have been trying to file, but it will not allow me to file without entering a number on SC1040 S, which is subsistence allowance. It will not take 0 for an answer, but it does not apply to me. I don't understand what to do?

Yes, you can clear that error by clicking in the box at the top and deleting the 0 and clicking in the box in the form and deleting the 0.  Leave both blank and continue.
