It is in the same area as entering Unemployment income received. To get there do the following.

  • Go to Federal Taxes > Wages & Income > Unemployment
  • Select Start or Update next to Unemployment and Paid Family Leave
  • During the flow a screen entitled Other Uncommon Unemployment Benefits will generate
  • Select Yes then Continue
  • It will ask Did you Repay Any Government Unemployment? Select Yes or No depending on the type of unemployment received
  • The Prior Year Repayments screen is where you will enter the amount repaid during the tax year for government benefits received in a prior year. This flows to Schedule A, line 28.
  • There will be a screen titled Repayments of Nongovernment Unemployment Benefits.
  • Select Yes and the screen Year Received Repaid Benefits will generate.
  • Select the appropriate box for your situation and select continue
  • On the Benefit Repayment screen enter the amount of Repayment of Prior Year Benefits and continue. This will flow to Form 1040, line 36 with notation "Sub-pay TRA"
