Get your taxes done using TurboTax
It is in the same area as entering Unemployment income received. To get there do the following.
- Go to Federal Taxes > Wages & Income > Unemployment

Select Start or Update next to Unemployment and Paid Family Leave
- During the flow a screen entitled Other Uncommon Unemployment Benefits will generate
- Select Yes then Continue
- It will ask Did you Repay Any Government Unemployment? Select Yes or No depending on the type of unemployment received
- The Prior Year Repayments screen is where you will enter the amount repaid during the tax year for government benefits received in a prior year. This flows to Schedule A, line 28.
- There will be a screen titled Repayments of Nongovernment Unemployment Benefits.
- Select Yes and the screen Year Received Repaid Benefits will generate.
- Select the appropriate box for your situation and select continue
- On the Benefit Repayment screen enter the amount of Repayment of Prior Year Benefits and continue. This will flow to Form 1040, line 36 with notation "Sub-pay TRA"
