Thank you!
That is usually not the case. We do not know the underlying investment that relates to your Grantor Tax Information Letter; however, letters of this type have been sent to investors/shareholders/trust owners of the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust, SPDR Gold Trust and the iShares Silver Trust and other types of investments that are structured as trusts. In most instances these letters provide information about how taxpayers can calculate their gain/losses as it relates to the sale of trust assets to pay expenses. Moreover, these letters do not, and should not, be included with a tax return.
Thank you, GeorgeM777, I really appreciate it. It's important to me to that I don't have to attach a copy of the grantor letter (to tie the trust EIN to my 1040) since I want to file electronically.
