Box 12, code W, on my W-2 is only reflecting my contributions to the HSA via payroll and not my employer's contribution of $800. It confused me because I was notified of an excess contribution by Fidelity, who is aware of the full amount contributed for my HSA.
Am I supposed to have received an amended W-2 or report it under additional employer contributions not on W-2 through TurboTax?
Is there any benefit or disadvantage to doing so?

payroll deductions for HSA and employer matching contributions for the same tax year are to be reported in box 12 code w on that year's w-2.
You definitely want to report the correct amounts.
First, Fidelity cannot know for sure if you made excess contributions, because they don't know what type of High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) you had: Self only? Family? 1 month? all year? How about on December 1, 2023? (there's a special rule for that.)
Second, as noted by Mike, the code W amount consists of both your contributions by payroll deduction AND your employer's contributions.
Are you saying that you know that the code W is only your payroll deductions? How do you know that your employer contributed $800? Did your employer tell you?
Yes, as it seems you may know, there is a way in TurboTax to report employer contributions not reported on your W-2.
To do so, go back into the HSA interview, and navigate to "Did your employer tell you about any other contributions?" Click on YES. This will expose 3 new lines, the bottom of which says, "Employer and payroll contributions not reported in box 12 on your W-2". Enter this $800 here, if you have confirmed that it was not part of the code W amount.
But humor me, please. Tell me the following:
1. What type of HDHP did you have?
2. For how many months?
3. What was your code W amount?
4. How much of it was your payroll deduction?
5. Did you make any "personal" contributions to your HSA (i.e., not through your employer)?
6. What did Fidelity tell you was the amount of the excess?
7. Did you finish the HSA interview? Did TurboTax tell you that you had excess contributions? If so, did you agree to withdraw it before April 15th?
I want to make sure that you get the right entries in TurboTax for the most accurate result.
