Is it easy to re-filing my 2021 on TurboTax?

Please explain what you mean by "re-file."   Was your 2021 return prepared and successfully e-filed using TurboTax?  Was the return accepted and was it processed by the IRS?   Or was it rejected---and now you want to try again to file it?

Or was it processed with mistakes or missing information that you need to correct by amending?

Whatever you do with a 2021 return, it has to be filed by mail.   E-filing is closed for 2021 returns.   If your 2021 return was rejected, then the only way to file it now is by printing it, signing and dating it in ink, and mailing it in.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

If the return was processed and needs to be amended to fix something that was wrong or missing the first time, then you will need to prepare a Form 1040X and mail it in.

Thank you for the answer. I didn't include medical expenses that were greater that 7.5% of my AGI.  I think it was about 10%.  I am not sure if it is worth re-fling and cause a possible red flag.

@villanitax If you had other itemized deductions that were on your original return, then including medical expenses might make a difference.   But you have to meet two very tough thresholds.  First---only the amount that is OVER 7.5% of your AGI "counts" as a deductible medical expense.  Second, you need enough itemized deductions like mortgage interest, property taxes, medical expenses etc.to exceed your standard deduction, or there will be no effect on your refund or tax due.

If you add the medical expenses, will you have enough itemized deductions to exceed your 2021 standard deduction?   If so, you can amend and enter them.   It will take the IRS about six months to process an amended return.

2021 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS

SINGLE $12,550  (65 or older + $1700)

MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $12,550  (65 or older + $1350)

MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $25,100  (65 or older + $1350 per spouse)

HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD  $18,800  (65 or older +$1700)

Legally Blind + $1350

I understand.  We do itemize or I wouldn't consider it.  I am just not sure if it worth re-filing the return from a cost benefit.  I appreciate the feedback.

Thank you again for the feedback.

There is no fee for amending your return.   If amending gets you an additional refund, then go forward with amending and get the refund.   An amended 2021 return will have to be sent in by mail.

You should mail it by using a mailing service with tracking like certified mail so that you know it was received, since you will have a long wait for it to be processed.
