Is Credit Karma legit?

About a week ago, I received an email from a company called “Credit Karma” and they said that they have merged with “Turbo Tax” “Intuit” and that they need additional info from me to prove that I am who I say I am.  Without these items, I won’t be able to use the Intuit Turbo tax to do my taxes for my 2020 taxes.  They say they cannot just “pull” the data from Intuit even though I have used Intuit online for the past three years.  Following are the things I can supply them with: pictures of documents that I send as .jpeg attachments to an email.  Either copies of TWO Primary documents or One Primary document AND ONE Secondary Document.

Primary documents include:
Driver's License or State ID
Passport  
Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
Military ID

Secondary documents include:
Another primary document
Birth Certificate
Marriage Certificate
Social Security Card
Full utility bill: must include-full name

Yes, they are a legitimate company and have merged with Intuit TurboTax.

However, I don't see why you received this type of email if you have a TurboTax account all you need to do is sign onto your TurboTax account with the User ID and password you have used in the past.

This sounds like a scam. Do not respond to the email until we hear back from the forum moderators, and do not click any links in the email.

Don't delete the email yet. The TurboTax security department might want to see it.

Dear Carol1247,  I had the same question on 12/23/2020 and was satisfied with their response. They DID merge with Turbotax and I had no previous notice.  I had additional problems with trying to create a Credit Karma membership account. I do NOT OWN a cell phone and my land line does not accept TEXT messages. Therefore, it seemed that I could not that I was ME. The problem was solved by using my printer:  I scanned my driver's license, and saved the scan as a ".jpg" image, created an email addressed to the Credit Karma folks, and copied the ".jpg" image as an email attachment and explained what I had done and sent the email. Problem solved. As a bonus, the Credit Karma folks sent me the TRANSUNION credit report and my credit scores from both TRANSUNION and EQUIFAX. Not a bad trade.
