Same issue? I've installed the software from the CD as I have for all the previous years on the same PC.
I launch the software and it goes out to do the updates. Here is where it fails and then the app closes.
The error message reads : "Failed to download update , The data was truncated while converting from one data type to another"
This issue would be best resolved by contacting customer support.
I am getting the generic error - The data was truncated while converting from one data type to another. [ Name of function (if known) = ]
This is loading from a CD for 2022 TurboTax Deluxe Federal Return Only. Support originally told me my 4 GB of RAM was the problem, so I updated to 16 GB, but I still get the same. error after updating to 16 GB. Before upgrading I was able to open the program only once after updating on the initial install. I did not do any work on a return after just opening the program that time. I simply closed it and didn't try to start a return for a couple of weeks. When I tried to open the program the second time, I began getting this error. I have worked with support twice (both times before upgrading RAM), with no resolution. After trying things like deleting cookies, emptying cache, using recommended settings, loading a manual upgrade patch found on Intuit site and so forth, I actually got the program to open a second time. This time I imported last years return and answer basic questions (personal info, filing status, etc) before saving and closing my 2022 1040 return. However, when I now try to open the return again, I get this same error when the program tries to update at startup. By the way, I have used TurboTax EVERY year since at least 2009 without an issue. And I've used TurboTax each year on this very HP notebook computer for 2018 - 2021 without issue. I have 80% of my hard drive available as well as 15 GB of my RAM, so storage and memory are not the problem. Anyone have a fix?
