injured spouse

hello everyone. hoping to have some experts in the injured spouse form here. now I have been filing an injured spouse form for a good number of years now cause of student loan debt my wife owes. despite the fact we do not live in a community state they would still try to take my refund to pay for her debt, hence me having to file the injured spouse to prevent that from happening. her debts are over 10 years old now and have been sold off to numerous debt collectors. my question is this, do I still need to keep filing the injured spouse or am I able to stop after a certain number of times filing it without having to worry about my refund being offset? this might be something I'd need to ask the irs directly but I figured I would try here. thanks in advance

As long as the debt exists and is in collection you will need to complete and file the Form 8379 for each tax year until the debt either has been paid or has been removed from collection.
