Hello,
I lived and earned money in NJ for part of the year, then was unemployed in NJ, then moved in with my parents and changed employers to live and work in CA for the rest of the year.
However, my W-2 for my job in NJ has my parents' CA address listed under "employee's name, address, and zip code" as I wanted to make sure I would still get any mail, including tax documents, once I moved.
How do I clearly indicate when I lived where? I am concerned about being taxed as a CA resident the entire year (or having NJ think I lived in CA when I received unemployment income from them.)
Also, how does this work with bank-related income (interest, investments?)
Thank you!
