I had to do this manually for 2020 in the online version and it was quite painful. I am trying to be better prepared this time, and I am assuming that I will need to switch to the CD/Download version to be able to import the file. I am guessing I'll have a couple hundred transactions at most.
Anyone else doing the same? Or are there any new developments for 2021?

TurboTax CD/download Online doesn't take .txf files.
A recent post on the forum described the Header Names you need to import your data with TurboTax Online.
If TurboTax won't accept your CSV file, proceed as follows.
Adjust your csv files so the columns are in the same order as on Form 8949.
Put a header with your name tax year and SS Number
Use the summary option and then you can mail in the printout of the CSV files.
See the TurboTax instructions that will pop up.
You would use Category C and/or F since you don't have a 1099-B.
At tax time, you have the option to summarize your transactions by Sales Category.
IRS requires C/F details to be listed on your own Form 8949,
or on your other forms (e.g. spreadsheets) which have the same information and in the same manner as Form 8949.
Either way, if you choose to summarize, you have to mail the transaction details to the IRS within three business days of IRS accepting your e-Filed tax return.

With e-File closing soon, when you file on paper you can attach the details at that time.
@fanfare Are you sure about Desktop (CD/download) not taking .txf files ?
I'm certainly not qualified to weigh in on whether/or how well it does or does not work...but this FAQ, that was updated 2 days ago, indicates Desktop can take .txf files & how to do it:
How do I import from the .txf file? (intuit.com)
oops. my memory was backwards. It is the Online program that won't take a .txf.
However, the .csv file also causes difficulty for many users, because the column Header Names are not sufficiently publicized.
see this link for info on importing in desktop versions of TT
