I prepared my 2021 tax returns, including 3 states, in TurboTax, but when I opened the 2022 program and selected import of my prior year returns, only the federal forms show up. Do I have to start all over with each state, or is it a matter of waiting for the states' 2022 tax forms to be released?
Thanks.

Are you using a desktop (installed) product?
States have not yet been released but are you aware that you need to purchase the states again for the 2022 tax year? At least most desktop products only include one free state.
Yes, except one state return should be included in the Premium version, correct? It’s called Federal + State. At what point will the prior year states’ information import to 2022?
P.S. I’m using a downloaded desktop version.
Yes, one state is included.
Regardless, have you been through the State Taxes section of the program and added your 3 states?
Yes the state info should show up when you download the state program. All the state info is in the same .tax2021 file as federal. Keep updating the program and then try going to the state tab to download the state.
And it's not one free state return. It's one free state PROGRAM which can do unlimited state returns in that state. Then to do a different state return you need to buy the other state programs download. Then it costs $20 to efile each state return including the first one.
No, I was expecting it to recognize those states from the prior year input. Is there a basic minimum for each state I need to enter to trigger it to pull data from the prior year? Like maybe resident or non-resident state status?
Thanks for your help.
