Import of 2019 H&R Block PDF into 2020 TurboTax Premier didn't include rental property data

I imported my 2019 H&R Block tax return (PDF format is the only supported format) into 2020 TurboTax Premier.  The import didn't bring in any of my Schedule E (rental property) information.  I really don't want to have to manually re-enter all of my depreciatable assets as it is a huge inconvenience (and is something that the prior year return import feature should automatically do for me).

Is this a bug?  When will it be fixed?

Sorry pdf Transfer is very limited.  It says....

  • From a PDF—which will transfer your personal info and your AGI to give you a head start.

What are you transferring into?  Online or Desktop?

Transfer a PDF into the Online version.

Import of a pdf usually only brings in personal information data.   You have to type the other data in your self manually.  When I saw how little actually got imported from my pdf, it did not seem worth the time it took to do it.

To answer your question, I imported into 2020 TurboTax Premier for Windows.  And thank you for the links VolvoGirl.

When I migrated from TurboTax to H&R Block Deluxe 6 years ago (2014 season) the import experience was much better... all of my Schedule E information transferred into H&R Block.  The reverse experience of migrating from H&R Block to TurboTax (2020 season) is practically worthless... none of my Schedule E information has been transferred.

Shame on Intuit for skimping.

FYI, count yourself lucky --- at least you got the 1040 info!  Using PDF of 1040-SR will not transfer, it just fails!  All you need to do is regenerate the 1040 (from whatever source you used) and import/transfer works -- tho it's still limited (Intuit needs more competition so they do it right when winning back ex-customers from H&RBlock).

If your situation triggers 1040-SR, the transfer from last year's PDF just fails!  NOW that I got that solved, maybe I can edit the imported data so my history info gets propagated... else, I might just redo 2019 using TTax, 'cuz I love having the 5-year historical table to review each year.
