Hello I'm trying to report a import defect between TurboTax premier 2018 and TurboTax Premier 2019. I have a case number but after a worthless phone interaction (they can't file a defect report) they told me to post on the forum in hopes that someone from L2 would find the post to resolve the issue.
Problem is that the 1099-DIV Exempt dividends is being loaded as 1099-INT income in the income summary screen. I don't have all the rest of my tax docs yet so not sure if this is the only importation error.

I guess it may depend on what page you are looking at.
If you are looking at the "Here's a Picture of Your 2019 Income " , page in the 2019 column lists all 1099-INT box 8 + all 1099-DIV box 11 on the one line added together. They are treated as one thing in the actual form 1040...whether you call them exempt-dividend, or exempt-Interest is immaterial to your tax calculations
...and after all, it is just a summary display page, and opinions on how much detail the software should present varies.
My example below...I transferred in form a 2018 tax file that had no exempt-interest/dividends. But I just tested it with a new file, and the 2018 total from BOTH -INT and-DIV forms is showing accurately .

However, I suspect you are looking at the Wages&Income menu page. Those totals are displayed for 2018 differently, than they do for 2019. So you are correct about that. Not sure they will change it at this late date since getting 2019 stuff is far more important. The 2018 values aren't used in the 2019 tax forms at all, but yeah..could be very confusing for someone who looks closely. The actual tax forms rule..
Correct I am looking at wages & income screen with 2018/2019 comparisons. Making sure the defect is reported incase the investigation process finds a larger importation area. As a side note I was shocked that opening a case with support the phone system couldn't log a defect with the development team. Makes me worry about the quality of the development process. Glad they guarantee the calcs 🙂
I independently found the exact same problem on the wages and income screen.
I have resorted to using split windows on the 2018 version Premier and 2019 version and comparing manually.
Intuit should at least list the problem as a known issue along with assurances that the remainder of the import data is valid in this version.
Not good luck guys, hope there are no other bugs in the imported data that will bite you
