The total amount of interest in my savings account was less than $10. Therefore, my bank is not supposed to issue me a 1099-INT. In addition, I had backup withholding (even though I shouldn't but this is a different story that I had to fix with my bank).
I received a 1099-INT from my bank which said "Recipient Copy" and it also said that this information is being furnished to the IRS.
I have read that since I had federal tax withheld, I should attach my 1099-INT form in my tax return. However, I have only one which is my copy.
So what should I send the IRS in this case?
What is the 1099-INT I received since my bank was not supposed to send me one?
