Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

If Turbo tax said my tax return was accepted, and I paid what I owed, why is the IRS saying I still owe them over 3 thousand dollars which does not equate to the filing.

I received a letter from IRS stating I originally owed 9 thousand instead of 7 thousand.  I paid in over 5 thousand from all my forms.

The return was accepted for processing only  and so during the  processing the IRS must have found something they did not agree with, made the changes  and billed you for the remaining difference.  Read the notice carefully to see what they changed.

@clayshelton - while you'll have to wait for the letter to determine why they adjusted it, almost every single post on an adjustment from the IRS on these boards,  has to do with either the Child Tax Credit or the Recovery Rebate Credit, which are lines 28 and 30 of Form 1040

1) how much was the EXACT amount of the IRS adjustment

2) what do you have on Line 28? if this is not zero, what do you have on Form 8812, Line14f?

3) what do you have on Line 30?

from those responses, I can probably figure out what occured?
