I attempted to efile and received a rejection from the federal return. IND-516-01 NY will not allow me to paper file and i do not know how to correct this problem

If the software does not allow for e-file, you can still paper file your New York state tax return.

There is an exception in the state law requiring e-file for the above reason.

You need to print and mail your tax returns. Here are the addresses:
