No. Dependents don't qualify for the Stimulus payment. If someone claimed you as a dependent they will get the Stimulus payment for you if you are under 19 for the first 2 Stimulus payments. The new 3rd Stimulus payment is 1,400 per person no age limit. So he will get that one too.
One small correction----the 1st and 2nd stimulus checks were paid to parents of dependents younger than 17-- the same age rule as child tax credit. The 3rd one could be paid to the person who claimed a dependent of any age. But---dependents do not receive stimulus payments.
If you answered “yes, I can be claimed as a dependent by someone else” then you do not qualify for any stimulus payments. it doesn’t matter if you are self-employed. If you answer “no,“ on your 2021 tax return, you would be eligible to have the $1400 round 3 stimulus added to your refund.
A more important question is, can your parent actually claim you as a dependent if you have self-employment income? That depends on your age, educational status, and total taxable income. You may wanna review the rules in publication 501, or post more of your details here to see what we think.
