I was a seasonal employee and I don't know if I should receive a W-2 from the company or not

If you were a seasonal, part time, full time or any other type employee you should receive a Form W-2.
If you were a seasonal, part time, full time or any other type employee you should receive a Form W-2.
I worked for the Houston Rodeo 2020. But I never received my W-2. And I have no contact with the company I worked for. What do I do?
Make contact with them. It's your responsibility to file your taxes and make reasonable efforts to get the info you need.
The first question you ask is: are you expecting a W-2, from them or was it your understanding that this was a cash relationship. Once you answer that question, you go to the next step.
No W-2. Missing w-2:
If you haven’t received your W-2, follow these four steps:
1. Contact your employer If you have not received your W-2, contact your employer to inquire if and when the W-2 was mailed. If it was mailed, it may have been returned to the employer because of an incorrect or incomplete address. After contacting the employer, allow a reasonable amount of time for them to resend or to issue the W-2.
2. Contact the IRS If you do not receive your W-2 by February 15th, contact the IRS for assistance at 800-829-1040. When you call, you must provide your name, address, city and state, including zip code, Social Security number, phone number and have the following information:
• Employer’s name, address, city and state, including zip code and phone number
• Dates of employment
• An estimate of the wages you earned, the federal income tax withheld, and when you worked for that employer during 2020. The estimate should be based on year-to-date information from your final pay stub or leave-and-earnings statement, if possible.
3. File your return You still must file your tax return or request an extension to file April 15, 2019, even if you do not receive your Form W-2. If you have not received your Form W-2 by the due date, and have completed steps 1 and 2, you may use Form 4852, Substitute for Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement. Attach Form 4852 to the return, estimating income and withholding taxes as accurately as possible. Your final pay stub is the best source of info. There may be a delay in any refund due while the information is verified.
4. File a Form 1040X if you later receive your missing W-2 after you filed your return using Form 4852, and the information may be different from what you reported on your return. If this happens, you must amend your return by filing a Form 1040X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return

If you're not expecting a W-2, you report the income from your own records. The IRS considers undocumented cash income (no W-2 or 1099-NEC), for work performed, to be self employment income. Enter at "Business Income & Expenses" and TurboTax (TT) will complete Schedule C for you and allow you to deduct any expenses associated with this income. You'll also have to pay self employment tax (social security & medicare tax) on any profits greater than $432.
You may have to upgrade to the Self Employment version of TT. If you have no expenses to deduct, There's a chance you may be able to use TT Deluxe or Premier. Enter your income at the 1099-NEC screen (even if you didn't get a 1099-NEC). You do not need the payer's ("employer's") Employer ID Number (EIN).
In TurboTax (TT), enter at:
- Federal Taxes tab
- Wages & Income
Scroll down to:
- 1099-MISC and Other Common Income
-Income from Form 1099-NEC
When asked why you got the 1099-NEC, select “Freelancer or Independent contractor”
Did u ever get ur w-2 I’m having the same issue right now
If you didn't receive a Form W-2 from your employer, contact them for a copy. If the employer is out of business or unreachable, make sure it isn't available online, or see if it was emailed and went to a junk folder. Check to see if TurboTax is able to import the W-2. Please see this TurboTax tips article for more information and steps you can take.
If you take these steps and still haven't been able to secure a copy of your W-2, you can prepare a substitute W-2 in TurboTax. You can still file your taxes, but you'll need complete Form 4852, Substitute for Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, which includes calculating your earnings. Here's how:
TurboTax will ask you a few follow-up questions to complete Form 4852. Once you're finished, you'll have a chance to print a copy for your records. We strongly recommend you do this so you have a record of what you earned and what you contributed to Social Security.
The IRS doesn't allow Form 4852 to be filed electronically, so you'll need to print out the necessary forms and mail them to the IRS.
