If I'm working a large amount of overtime temporarily. Can I adjust my exempt status to "exempt," then change back when I'm done?

At the end of the year, I will claim 5 standard exemption/deductions for my family. Not sure if this affects the response.

why would you do that? you will pay tax on overtime, just as you will pay tax on regular time.

No, you cannot claim Exempt, but you can change the number of exemptions.
