If i buy deluxe download now it says i get 5 federal and one state? does that mean i can file 4 other people's federal? or mine for next 5 years?

TurboTax desktop software (CD/download) is only good to prepare returns for the one tax year.   You can prepare as many Federal returns as you need for that one year, but are limited to 5 free Federal efiles.  Any additional Federal returns would have to be printed and mailed.

NOTE: TurboTax is a personal tax product and is not licensed for professional tax preparers.

If your software includes a state program, then that can be used to prepare multiple returns of that one state.  There is a state efile fee of 24.99 (sometimes discounted in early season to 19.99) for each efiled state return.  There is no state efile fee for New York state.  There is no state efile fee if one prints and mails the state returns.

Up to 5 federal tax returns, means you and 4 other people; or you and a spouse filing separately and 3 other people. Etc.

Turbotax is not permitted for professional use (you can't use it if people pay you to do their taxes) so this is the "friends and family" rule.

The 5 federal e-file limit is set by the IRS, not turbotax.
