I am having identity theft and account compromised issues as kept getting 2FA codes without me initiating it. I filled IRS form however I did not get information or mail on the responding to the form. I have case open with intuit/turbotax. The escalation team advised that the investigation is underway. I’m kind of afraid who has access to what details about us. Unsure how long the investigation will be conducted and what to expect next.

Has anyone experienced with unauthorized activity on the account before ?
If you haven't received an answer from the IRS in regard to your submission, you should contact the IRS Identity Protection Specialized Unit at: Reporting identity theft.
Keep in mind that identity theft cases can involve significant delays while it's processing. Most times, it could take up to 22 weeks.
To reduce the risk of future tax-related identity theft, you may voluntarily choose to get an IP PIN. Open this link: Get an identity protection PIN (IP PIN).
NicolleR1, I appreciate the response.
I just received a mail stating they need additional 60 days to work on the account. As I’ve no clue what information was compromised how they are using against me it’s kind of put me in a difficult position.
adding to that TT saying they do not see any issues on the account even after they clearly confirmed it’s a identity theft and providing the case number.
I have no idea who is working on what issue. And what exactly happening with the account information. I was able to recover the account; however, I noticed sign in activity was deleted and my profile information also got deleted like first name last name etc.
I would appreciate if can provide any inputs on this matter.
Identity theft is not a new situation unfortunately. Because it is a known possibility the IRS has made rules to help you. If you followed the information provided, please use the link below to contact us regarding your questions.
