the divorce was finalized in 2023, and ive been single since, do i still have to select divorced this year?

Divorced is not a filing status for a tax return. The software just asks about divorce to navigate you to questions about alimony, etc. Your filing status is Single. Or if you have custody of the children, maybe Head of Household.

TurboTax is asking for your marital status, not your filing status. Your marital status will be divorced every year from now on, unless you remarry.
