I've donated to the organization Children International and received a receipt to be used for tax deduction. Is that eligible as supporting or claiming a dependent?

I've donated to Children's International in the late fall of 2018 and I received what they call a "tax receipt" to be used for income-tax purposes. Would this count as claiming a child as a dependent or supporting the child? If not, where exactly do I provide the information that the donation was done through a charity organization?

No, it is a Charitable Contribution, deductible on Schedule A as an itemized deduction.  You have to itemize your deductions in order to take advantage of the deduction.  It is entered under Federal Taxes, Deductions & Credits. Scroll down to Charitable Donations.  If you don't see Charitable Donations, click on Show all Tax Breaks.

Do you think you will have enough to itemize this year?  This year the Standard Deduction will be doubling so many people will be switching to the Standard Deduction.  And there is a max 10,000 limit (5,000 MFS) of property tax and state taxes "SALT".
