I was given the above steps to take which I did. The software says that it successfully transferred a number of items, but upon going further in filling out the return I have learned that none of the 2022 return was pulled in.
Can you tell me if there is still a way to pull in 2022 figures into my 2023 return? I am now complete with the income portion of the 2023 return.
If not, how can I actually pull in my 2022 figures (if I need to start over)
Thanks

No---if you did not transfer 2022 before you began to enter 2023 information, it is too late. You cannot transfer the prior year tax file if you have already begun to enter 2023 information. The other choice would be to clear it and start over completely if you want to transfer 2022 to 2023.

How to transfer last year’s return? https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900883
What version are you using? The Online browser version or the Desktop program? Those steps are for the Mac program. Did you use the Desktop program last year or the Online version? Maybe you transferred from the wrong 2022 file.
Sorry but if you want to transfer from last year you will have to start a new 2023 return and lose all your work so far. Go up to File - NEW. If you used the Desktop program last year it should find your file and ask if you want to transfer from it. Or you can Browse to where it is.
Here's an idea. Do you still have 2022 installed? Try opening 2022 program and see if you can get your 2022 return to show up in it. Go to FILE - OPEN. And see if that is the right one.
Then in the 2022 program do a File-Save AS and give it a easy name you can find or search for. And note where it saves it or select where to save it so you can find it again. The file will end in .tax2022. Then close the 2022 program. Then start a new 2023 return and transfer from the 2022 file.
