I started a new job in August and I only been there for five months. Do I still file my taxes even though I’ve been there for five months?

Absolutely, yes.   File a 2023 tax return and include all of your income; you should receive a W-2 to file before the end of the month.

Whether you are required to file a tax return depends on your total income for the year, and the type of income. It does not depend on how long you held a job.

You can use the calculator at the following link on the IRS web site to see if you have to file a tax return.

Do I Need to File a Tax Return?

If you do have to file, you have to report all of your income, no matter how little it is.

And.....when you get your W-2, if there are amounts in boxes 2 or 17, you might be able to get a refund even if you did not make enough to be required to file.
