It depends on when and why you received the check. I recommend calling the contact number at Charles Schwab for further clarification.
The check is from my employer as a profit sharing thing instead of a IRA/401k
if this check was issued this year, you will probably either receive a 1099R for it to be reported on next year's taxes or it may be a taxable event reflected in your next year's W2. In any case, this will be reported in your 2020 return.
