South Carolina has changed the form to include both G/INT, but you can enter this as a 1099-G State and Local Tax refund in TurboTax if that is what it is for, or in the interest income section if it is for interest. If this is a state and local refund, you only need to enter this form if you itemized deductions in 2015 - if you took the standard deduction, then you do not need to enter it. But, you can enter it in TurboTax and TurboTax will help you figure out if you need to include it.
Since this is likely a State and Local tax refund, I will give instructions on entering it. You can use the search feature (top right hand corner of your screen next to Contact) and search for “1099-G” (search for it like that because there are two 1099-G forms).
Or follow these step by step instructions -
- Log into your account
- Hit Take Me to My Return
- Click Federal Taxes
- Then Wages and Income
- Select Other Common Income
- Click Edit/Start next to Refunds Received for State and Local tax returns (see screenshot below)
