Full time. He still is active in our children’s lives and visits often but doesn’t stay with us for our own personal marital problems. He lives with a relative. Now from what I am reading due to our circumstances I believe I should have only filed MFS. I need advice. Would my situation be accurate to file HOH or since he helps pay for things does it mean I don’t qualify for that filing status? If I filed incorrectly how can I fix 3 years of incorrect tax returns?

if you paid at least 1/2 the cost of maintaining the household you can file as HOH since you seem to meet the other HOH requirements.   You say you pay more than 1/2 the bills so it seems HOH is and was proper.
