My return was first rejected by the IRS but now it shows IRS has accepted it. But...my banking institution isn't showing a pending payment? Do I need to wait or do I pay directly on IRS.gov? I don't want to double-up if my initial payment is going to go through but I don't see it yet?
Hello Jy_ - please wait - there is no need to make an additional payment. To resolve the issue you were involved in, Intuit resubmitted your return and others to the IRS. The status of "IRS accepted" is correct and your return will be processed with the info you provided. It is not uncommon for a small delay of actual debit of funds from your account by IRS due to large number of returns being processed on final day of filing.
Go to the IRS payment website and pay the federal taxes owed using Direct Pay - https://www.irs.gov/payments
In TurboTax where asked how you want to pay the federal taxes owed, select pay by check. Complete and e-file the tax return. Do not send a check if you have paid using the IRS website.
