I paid estimated taxes in 2024 toward 2023 federal and state taxes. Do I enter the payments for the Federal Deduction & Credits or not? The language is confusing.

No, estimated tax payments are amounts you pay for the next tax year, you do not make estimated payments for a past year.  If you made 2023 state tax payments in 2024, there is an entry for that.

You do not enter that information on a 2024 tax return.  The TurboTax online editions are only for tax year 2024.

If you are completing a 2023 tax return using the TurboTax desktop editions installed on your personal computer, follow this procedure -

To enter, edit or delete estimated taxes paid (Federal, State, Local) -

Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Deductions and Credits
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
On Estimates, click on the start or update button

Or enter estimates paid in the Search box located in the upper right of the online program screen. Click on Jump to estimates paid

Federal estimated taxes paid are entered on Form 1040 Line 26
