Why do you need the CD? Sorry they aren’t selling the CD, only the download. The 2024 program should be available in Mid November.
Even if you bought the CD before you could use the download method to install it. I always bought the CD from Costco. But last year for 2023 I bought the download from Costco online. Installed it real fast. It was the same as the CD. Most of the laptops and computers now don't have a CD drive. And I had to get a new laptop with Windows 10 to run Turbo Tax starting for 2022.
The confusion is that the Online version is NOT the Download program. The Download program is EXACTLY the same Desktop program as the CD. You buy it the same way directly from Turbo Tax or in stores like Costco. When you installed the CD you still had to go online to update it. It's only the method you use to install it. Even when I bought the CD I used the download method to install it.
With CD I can have peach of mind the if my hard-drive broke I can be able to install to the new hard-drive. For some reason some of my old files cannot be open with the later version. I kept my files more than 10yrs in case of I need to get back.
If they don't have CD this year. Is there possible that the install file can be burned on the writable CD? And install as well?
Yes you can burn the installation file to a CD or save to a usb flash drive. But Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to download to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac).
But even if you have the CDs you won’t be able to reinstall 2019 or prior. They only support the last 3 years. And if you do get 2018 and prior installed you won’t be able to update it or download any state programs. So you should save all your returns to a pdf file with all the worksheets. Open each year and save them now if you haven’t already.
And the License Code started in 2019. So 2019 needs to connect to Turbo Tax to verify the License Code. But they have stopped supporting 2019. So you can’t install and activate 2019 and newer when they stop supporting each year going forward.
A load of crock. The cost has gone up tremedously. Had issues with desktop and laptops in past and had to reload years of taxes so NOL and other information was rolled forward. Can't believe they don't offer a hard copy disc for those that want it. Maybe time to switch back to H & R Block.
Maybe time to switch back to H & R Block. Good luck trying to find a 2024 cd.
One year after loading cd my computer crashed. I had the cd so was able to download the program on my new computer. Can I download the program again if I use the download version
@evltal Yes! Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account when you first install it, all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac) you can download it again.
Thank you for your quick response, VolvoGirl. I am really relieved to know this and that I can continue with Turbo Tax.

Is this link legit? I am following the link but it went right into payment. There is no product to choose.
You need to first buy your software product. Then go to the link for CD and pick Windows/Mac or Business.
@hung05 You only need to pick Individual or Business CD. The Individual CD has all the versions on it (Basic, Deluxe, Premier, Home & Business). You still have to buy the version download you want and License Code separately.
I remember some years ago, some "genius" at TurboTax decided that they would make the company more money if they took features out of TurboTax Deluxe and move those features into a more expensive TurboTax offering.
That money making move turned into a real MESS and cost TurboTax a lot instead of saving them money and making them money.
Now they are going to save money by NOT offering the software in the CD format that we have all used for MANY years.
Well, I personally like the CD.
Yes, you load it into the CD drive and run the install program and then get updates from the TurboTax website - so what?
I still like having the CD!
I wonder how much business they will lose resulting from this cost saving move?
How many customers (like me) might go somewhere else for their tax software??
Thanks TurboTax!!
