Form 1099-HC is required to complete a Massachusetts state tax return. You can complete the state return without one, but it will not be able to be efiled. You should contact your insurance provider to get a copy of the 1099-HC form before you file.
Form 1095 C is an informational document for your federal tax return.
There is no specific information from the 1095 C that must be entered
into Turbo Tax. You should keep it with your tax papers as it is
evidence that you had health insurance.
Turbo tax does not warn you about electronic filing rejection without 1099HC before you file.
Only after rejection . Turbo tax customer service and Mass dept of revenue are clueless and uninformed on this matter. Federal workers don’t receive1099HC. So you are unable to provide this form and there is no alternative. Federal workers get 1099 B or 1095 B. Mass DOR doesn’t care. They want you file electronic return but offer no guidance for Postal Employees who cannot get this form.
So why use turbo tax for state if they can’t help you to file Mass return ?
