Yes, you may be able to import it, but you can certainly enter it manually,
To import your W-2 you will have to have some confirming information.
This can come from the W-2 itself, or a final pay stub.
- We need the Box 1 amount from your W-2
- or the year-to-date (YTD) gross income from your year-end pay stub.
- In some cases, we may need the Box d Control Number from your W-2.
If the following steps don't work you may have to enter it manually.
Log into TurboTax.
TurboTax Import Online
- Open or continue your return.
- Under Federal
- Click Wages & Income a menu will appear.
- Select Wages & Salaries
- Go to W-2.
- Select Work on my W-2 and Continue.
- If you've already entered a W-2 or need to add another one, select Add a W-2.
- Enter your Employer Identification Number (EIN) from Box b on your W-2.
- If your W-2 can be imported, you'll come to the Great news! We can automatically import your W-2 info screen. Answer the questions to complete your import.
- If TurboTax doesn't recognize your EIN you can use the TurboTax mobile app to snap a photo of your W-2, upload it from your computer, or fill it in yourself.
Log into TurboTax.
To enter a W-2 Manually
- Under Federal
- Click Wages & Income a menu will appear.
- Select Job (W-2) [Add/Edit]
- [+ Add a new W-2]
- If asked identify the person
- Enter employer EIN
- Scroll to [Change how I enter my form]
- [Type it myself]
- Post Employer Info
- Post your W-2
