I need to e-file state tax and mail federal due to certain documents, not allowing me to

I can't finish since it gives me "your transmission didn't go through", since I have to e-file my federal with my state but I cannot do that.
What do I do when I have to e-file the state and mail the federal? I am NY resident, so not allowed to mail my state tax.

You cannot e-file your state return unless you e-file your federal return and the federal return is accepted.  If you are mailing your federal return you will also have to mail your state return. Actually although NY prefers that you e-file, you can mail your return.

Thank you. So even that my state tax says "NY state requires this income tax return to be filed electronically" am I allowed to mail it?

Yes--that is why there is an address for you to mail it to.  Not everyone even has the ability to e-file, so NY will accept mailed returns.
