I made only $480 in 2020 working for the County Registrar as a poll worker but I did not receive a W-2 form. How can I enter this income without a W-2? Self-employed?

Your income as a poll worker is only self-employment income if your are not covered by a Section 218 agreement. You can check with your county election board.

If you ARE COVERED by a Section 218 agreement, enter the amount as "Other Income." You don't have to pay Social Security and Medicare tax as you would if self-employed because it is less than $1,800.

  1. Click Federal in the left column
  2. In Wages & Income go all the way down to Less Common Income
  3. Click Show More and select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
  4. On Let's Work on Any Miscellaneous Income, select Other reportable income
  5. Say YES to "Did you receive any other taxable income"
  6. On Other Taxable Income enter "Poll Worker" as the description and $480 as the amount
