Your income as a poll worker is only self-employment income if your are not covered by a Section 218 agreement. You can check with your county election board.
If you ARE COVERED by a Section 218 agreement, enter the amount as "Other Income." You don't have to pay Social Security and Medicare tax as you would if self-employed because it is less than $1,800.
- Click Federal in the left column
- In Wages & Income go all the way down to Less Common Income
- Click Show More and select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
- On Let's Work on Any Miscellaneous Income, select Other reportable income
- Say YES to "Did you receive any other taxable income"
- On Other Taxable Income enter "Poll Worker" as the description and $480 as the amount
