I’m new at filing my taxes and how do i know if my taxes are actually filed? and are filing taxes the same as filing returns?

If you are using TurboTax and file electronically, you can check the receive text and email notifications. The IRS will notify you through TurboTax thatthey accepted your filing. Filing is the same as sending the IRS and your state the tax forms.

As stated by rorysmash, you receive emails from the IRS and the State when the returns have been accepted.
