I'm being prompted to fill out Schedule 8812 Credits for Qualifying Children and Other Dependents, but I don't have any children or dependents. How do I fix this?

At the "Review" stage, I'm being prompted to "Check my Entry" for a field on Schedule 8812. I triple-checked my entire tax form and no where in it did I list having children nor dependents (I am single and have no kids). I even cleared all my information and restarted my tax return from scratch, yet this message is still coming up at the very end. I have no idea why I'm being asked to check my entry for "Schedule 8812 (Form 1040)." I need to remove this form somehow but I don't know how to go about doing that. Please advise.

To remove Form 8812 permanently, return to the Child Tax Credit section and complete all interview questions. Everyone has to go through this section before filing this year -- even if you have no kids.

To get back to this section, search for Child Tax Credit and use the Jump to Child Tax Credit link to be taken directly to those questions. Work through the questions carefully making sure to indicate that you (and your spouse, if any) did NOT receive any advance payments.

Even if you have no dependents, you must go through the Child Tax Credit section and answer the questions. Basically, you need to tell TurboTax that you did not receive any advance payments. Once you click through the screens in that section, Form 8812 will go away permanently.

If this doesn't resolve the e-file error, check your State tax return (if any) for similar questions.

Enter a 0 (zero) when asked to enter a number on the Schedule 8812. This will correct the error and remove the Schedule 8812 from your tax return so that you can file the return.

Everyone is being asked this question since TurboTax does not know if the user was one who received these advances from the IRS in 2021.

Enter a 0 (zero) when asked to enter a number on the Schedule 8812. This will correct the issue and remove the Schedule 8812 from your tax return so that you can file the return.

If you do not have dependents and did not receive any advance child tax credits in 2021, the Schedule 8812 will not be included in the 2021 tax return that is filed.
