I'm a nail tech and worked in two different states. I received two 1099-misc and was wondering if they needed to be file separately or could they be file together?

Also, since I'm an independent contractor, could I deduct my mileage to and from work?

Probably not, you cannot deduct your mileage even though you are an independent contractor, if you worked in a fixed location.  So, if you worked in a Nail Salon, your mileage would not be deductible.  If you went to clients homes to do their nails then yes, your mileage would then be deductible.

Since you received two 1099's it is best to add them separately.
