What do you mean you just filed 2018?  Did you  use the Desktop program installed on your computer?  Online is ONLY for 2019.  So if you used the Online web site you have a big problem.  It thinks it was for your 2019 return.

If you actually submitted and filed your 2018 info then you have to wait until the IRS Accepts or Rejects it.. If it Rejects you can change it around to be for 2019 and resend it. BUT if it is Accepted then you need to wait for the IRS to fully process your return and you get the first refund or pay the tax due. Then you can fill out an Amended Return 1040X and change the whole return to be for 2019. So if you have filed DO NOT change or enter anything else into your return until you find out if you have to amend.

Then you still have to file 2018.  So post back for more info on all this.

Oh no----did you use the online program for 2018?  Online is ONLY for 2019 so you have made a mistake.  Wait and see if the return is rejected--it should be.  if it rejects you can delete the 2018 data from the online return and put in your 2019 data instead.

If that return is somehow accepted--you have a bigger problem to fix.  Post back when you know if it was accepted or rejected.

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?

https://www.irs.gov/refunds           Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?”

Note: If it says “Ready to Mail” or “Printed” that means YOU have to mail it yourself.  TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you.
