I have two w2's from the same employer

because I transferred stores- from one city to another but in the same state - do I need to file both or is this just for city tax reasons?

You need to enter them as just one W-2.  Just add the boxes with the city tax onto the other W-2.

If one of your W-2s is mostly blank, just enter the other W-2 and make sure you include the info from the mostly-blank W-2. Usually, "blank" W-2s have additional Box 12 line items or entries for a second state in Boxes 15-20.

Don't enter a separate W-2 if Box 1 is empty, as you won't be able to e-file.

Are they duplicates of each other?  or is one for a portion of the year and the other is for the rest of the year?

one is from when I lived in one city which was the first 6 months of the year and the other is from the new place I live from the last 6 months of the year two separate locations for each store I worked at. the one from my first store is pretty much blank other then my city tax for that location and the one from my new store has everything but the city tax from my last location.

It should ask right under if you have more w 2s to enter just entered them and continue to do the same as the one above regardless if its the same employer.

I have two w2's from the same employer

I am in MO.  My company is in IL.  They sent me two w2's, one with state listed as MO with Boxes 1-12 blank.  State wages are lower on IL, with the rest on MO (the sum = Social Security Wages).  It won't let me efile since the MO one has a blank box 1, or more specifically a zero that it asked to enter if that box is blank.  Is there any way around that so I can efile instead of mailing??

So same question but different states same employer still one w2s? One is half blank. Won't let me efile because of it. Same answer for this senerio?

You will delete the W-2 with nothing in box 1

You will then Edit the other one

To Edit your W-2 In TurboTax

Open or continue your return.

From the top menu, select Search and type-in W-2.

Select the Jump to link in the search results.

On the Here's your W-2 info screen, select Edit next to the W-2 you want to change.

Then down in the State section after you have entered the info from the first W-2.

Select Add Another Row to enter the second states info

I have two w2's from the same employer

My son and I are under the impression that the one is for the first 3 weeks he worked under employer 1, and the 2nd W2 is for the work he did under the new owners for the remainder of the year.  I say that because the second (larger) W2 does not have the "Corrected" box checked.   The two W2s have the same business name, employer ID, and the same State Identification code, but different physical addresses.  The new employer is unreachable, so I don't know whether to:

a) Take the two W2s, add the individual box amounts together and submit as one W2 using the most current physical address.

b) Just submit the most current (i.e., larger) W2, and assume this included the amounts from the first W2 (even though the "Corrected" box was not checked, and we don't think the new employer had access to these values).

c) Input into Turbo Tax the two W2s individually, knowing they have the same name, employer ID and State identification code, but different physical address and amounts.

Not sure what to do.

Are you able to confirm from payroll stubs and / or bank account deposits that the W-2 box 1 amounts are accurate?

I recommend that you 'add' the two W-2's into one entry into the TurboTax software.  See also this Best answer.
