An extension does not give you extra time to pay your tax due. It only gives you extra time to file your Form 1040. 2019 tax due is due today--July 15, 2020. If you cannot pay, then you will just be late.
If you file an extension and pay "something" with your extension request, it may lessen the late filing penalty/interest you will be subjected to for paying late.
You may also want to look at payment plans.

Hello @duceduce !
We have a bunch of articles for extensions;
How Do I Get an Extension on Taxes?
Need to file a free federal tax extension?
How do I file an IRS extension (Form 4868) in TurboTax Online?
Filing an Income Tax Extension
How to File for an Extension of State Taxes
What to Do After You've Filed an Income Tax Extension
Keep in mind: An extension doesn't give you extra time to pay your taxes — but it will keep you from getting a late filing penalty. (You'll still owe interest if you pay after the deadline).
Hope this helps!
